Project Summary: The three main projects Mr. Knutson worked on were the Interactive Collections Environment (ICE), Bankruptcy, and Recovery Management System (RMS). The goals of these projects were to move from disparate application models to a centralized Web Services model, using WebSphere distributed environment accessing existing IMS Mainframe and OS390’s via CICS Transaction Gateway, XML, SOAP, Axis, Java and Cobol. The Bankruptcy Manager was a terminal application, Recovery Management System (RMS) was a Swing application using RMI/IIOP, and Interactive Collection Environment (ICE) was using Swing through remote CORBA services. The new architectural focus was to create reusable services into a Web-Services infrastructure to be shared and dynamically discovered, enterprise wide.
Scope of Duties: Mr. Knutson was tasked with Team mentoring and retooling for existing Cobol/IMS/Mainframe programmers. Mr. Knutson was also tasked with Architectural support, application design, development and performance testing in various groups. Mr. Knutson was a member of the Discover Architectural Review Board, and tasked with standards and practices used corporate wide. Mr. Knutson designed and developed many of the project deliverables including GUI design, SOAP/Axis Interfaces, Web Services, UDDI and J2EE Middleware services.
